Hunter Road Set to Close Monday

June 24, 2017 - 06:11 PM

Repairs to Hunter Road are set to being Monday, June 26th at at 7am. The work will remediate a slide between Colorado Street and Barger Street which has caused traffic to be one lane for nearly a year.

Earlier this month, PennDOT incorrectly posted signs indicating work was set to begin on June 5. In what PennDOT called a “miscommunication,” the signs were subsequently covered. PennDOT was unaware the signs were posted until contacted by ThisIsPennHills.com.

The repairs will close Hunter Road to all traffic starting Monday. The official detour has drivers use Sandy Creek, Verona, Saltsburg, and Hulton Roads, however locals will easily find quicker alternatives. PennDOT expects the road to be closed until early August.

Immediately following the repairs, Hunter Road and Plum Street will be resurfaced from Allegheny River Boulevard in Oakmont to Hamil Road in Penn Hills.
